Redbox Introduces Free Streaming Service
Remember Redbox? This iconic DVD rental kiosk company has been around since the early 2000s – you may remember renting out a movie or two from your local Redbox outside of a grocery store, drug store, or fast food restaurant. (And, if you’re like us – forgetting to return it on time and getting stuck with some extra fees!)
Now, with the age of streaming in full force and DVD players on their way towards being obsolete, Redbox has faded into the background… until now.
This February, Redbox announced the launch of its new free streaming service. Offering free live TV without the need to even sign into an account, Redbox has certainly caught our attention.
Right now, Redbox has only been released to select users. But, it will soon make its full release for users throughout the United States. Read on to learn all about Redbox’s new streaming service and how you can use it for home entertainment.

Redbox’s new, free streaming service will offer TV from popular channels and exclusive Redbox channels.
Channel categories for Redbox streaming include:
- Celebrity and Entertainment News (i.e. TMZ)
- World and National News (i.e. USA Today)

Examples of popular TV programs available with Redbox Streaming include:
- America’s Funniest Home Videos

While Redbox doesn’t offer any exclusive TV content for streaming (meaning that you can find this content elsewhere), we like their easy-to-use interface. Along with the fact that you don’t even need to create an account to start watching, it’s clear that Redbox has created a convenient entertainment platform with its live TV offerings.
Redbox On Demand
In addition to free live TV, Redbox is offering an on-demand service. There’s no charge to sign up for Redbox on-demand, but you will need to pay rental charges for the programs that you want to watch. Thousands of movies and TV programs are available on Redbox On Demand for as little as $1.99. Plus, when you rent movies with Redbox On Demand, you’ll earn Redbox Perk points that can be used for free rentals at Redbox kiosks.
