Streaming 101: What’s the Deal With ESPN+?
Who’s It For: Niche Sports Fans
Why We Like It: Low cost, access to niche live sports that are otherwise hard to find
Price Tag: $4.99
Let’s start here: Surprisingly to some, ESPN+ does not offer full access to ESPN programming. You won’t find SportsCenter, College GameDay, Around the Horn, or live broadcasts of major events like Monday Night Football or NBA games.
So it’s not a streaming version of traditional ESPN programming.
What you will find, however, is excellent access to lots of live sports programming that is hard to find anywhere else. For example, you’ll find MLS matches galore, PGA golf coverage, and more.
Cost & Programming Options
ESPN+ is priced affordably at just $4.99 per month. And in addition to the live sports mentioned above, you’ll have access to a huge portion of ESPN’s recorded archives, including shows like E:60 and 30 for 30.
Availability
You can watch Hulu on a variety of streaming devices, including Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, and more. Access is also available directly on the web as well as Android and iOS devices.
Chef’s Take
Many viewers are disappointed to learn that ESPN+ doesn’t offer full access to ESPN programming. But as long as you know what you’re signing up for, ESPN+ offers great value.
It’s not a replacement for the main ESPN channel and their live sports programming.
But it does provide access to ESPN’s library of old shows and recorded events. If you’re a hardcore sports fan, you’ll always be able to find something to watch with ESPN+. At just $4.99 per month, it’s a low-cost option for sports fans everywhere.
