Breaking Down Sling TV

Who’s It For: Cord-cutters, bargain hunters
Why We Like It: Low cost, access to national TV networks
Price Tag: $25 per month and up

Sling TV presents an affordable alternative to traditional cable and satellite TV – making it attractive for many cord cutters.

They offer a variety of different packages which provide access to popular networks like ESPN, CNN, Comedy Central, and much more.

Cost & Programming Options

Sling TV has three basic options: their Orange plan, their Blue plan, and a combined Orange & Blue plan.

Orange costs $25 per month and includes a variety of national networks, and Blue offers a different network selection for the same price. The Orange & Blue plan combines both options to create a $40 per month lineup featuring around 50 channels.

In addition to the base packages, Sling also offers a variety of Extra packages at $5 per month. There are Extras tailored to sports fans, families with kids, comedy fans, and more.

While Sling offers access to many national networks, they have little-to-no access to local networks.

Availability

You can watch Disney+ on many streaming devices, including Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox One, and many more. Note that Sling is NOT currently available on PlayStation as it’s a competitor to their PlayStation Vue service.

Chef’s Take

Sling TV is a legitimate alternative to traditional cable TV – and it’s priced very affordably. The ability for users to customize their lineup based on their preferences helps to avoid unnecessary costs for channels that they’re not watching.

However, Sling falls short with their access to local TV networks, and hardcore sports fans will find it difficult to access all of the programming they’re looking for. It’s a good starting point for cord-cutters, but some users will be left wanting more.

Happy streaming!
